We practiced really quick sits today and our sit stays in preparation for our outings. She's getting much better and managing more distractions with her sits.
In general she is much more checked in. She is responsive when I ask her to do things. A lot of her naughty behaviors (stealing things, for instance) have gone by the wayside. I have seen so much growth and maturity in her in the last several months.
She was a little nervous when we had some children walking up behind us on one of our outings today. I haven't seen this with her before with kids so she may be heading into a little bit of a fear period.
I like taking her to playgrounds because of the noises but also because of the equipment. It's a great way for her to build up some confidence. She's a very agile girl who seems to be able to leap onto anything. So having her jump onto play equipment is something she can physically do which makes her feel a little more confident in the things around her. It's like when a dog is nervous and you ask them to sit. A sit is an easy thing to do for most dogs and makes them feel like "Yeah, I've got this, I can do it."
She got loads of compliments at the pet supply store. She was particularly distracted today as it seemed to be Doberman Day at the store. She was probably looking at them and thinking they were not nearly as pretty and sleek (or well-behaved) as she is. Oh, I almost forgot, her greetings were impeccable. She sat very nicely automatically and stayed in her sit throughout the greetings.
Sinbad was happy when she returned from her outings. They are pretty cute together...
Sia reminded me that I haven't got a garden in yet. Maybe tomorrow she can help me with that.
But that might require a nap first...
