She's at the point where we are combining duration and distractions with her down stays. It won't be long before she'll be able to handle duration, distractions, AND distance.
So for now we just increase the distraction a bit and, when all is going well, increase the duration.
Sit stays are a little more challenging for Sia. That's pretty typical for young dogs. We've spent some time getting her to relax in her downs but that's harder to do with a sit. Not to mention that she is so ready for action in a sit and can easily pop up and go when the mood strikes her. With more practice and consistency she'll improve.
And she really is relaxing in the downs. She will easily melt in your hands for a little attention.
Sis still gets distracted but she's still very responsive even when something else has caught her attention.
Sia is sure to always remind me too that we must follow our training sessions with play. It's just a necessity of life...
